Baby Breath

The house is still

As baby breath

Falls lightly on my skin

She sighs a little sleepy sigh

And snuggles closer in

I press my nose

Against her hair

Feel that familiar pull

And close my eyes in wonder

That my heart could be so full

I Took a Trip to Tortall

I took a trip to Tortall

To see my younger self

And visit with some friends who only

Live up on the shelf

I fought bullies with Alanna

Rolled dice in the Rogue’s Court

Wished to see a griffin

But my visit was too short

Hermione is nice and all

And certainly she’s smart

But Kel and Daine and Daja

Have a place inside my heart

From the Soil of Sadness

I would never say that losses

Occur because they should

But from the soil of sadness

We can often grow some good

I’d never tell a friend

That bad things happened for a reason

But remember that from darkness

There will come another season

Pi Day

On March 14th, we cheer for pi

And for math games of days gone by

Math was something fun to do

The list of primes began with two

Fibonacci in a flower

Puzzles were within my power

But math and I, we grew apart

The problem sets just got too hard

Numbers now are my defeat

But once I was a mathlete

The brain is an elastic thing

Perhaps someday I’ll learn to sing

And maybe also I will find

The fun in math that once was mine

Salutations!

My computer is affected

With a most peculiar curse

Everything I try to type

Will soon come out in verse

All I want to say

In this little rhyming greeting:

Hello to the blogosphere

Thanks so much for reading!
