They thought they were teaching us justice
When they taught us Harper Lee
But we just learned that Black folks need
A Finch to set them free
They thought they were teaching us justice
When they taught us Harper Lee
But we just learned that Black folks need
A Finch to set them free
It’s easy to talk about prejudice
That belongs to other folks
We know that we aren’t like that
And we feel so very woke
But until we take a hard look
And our actions and our speech
A world without that bias
Will be always out of reach
Sometimes we like to pretend
That racism’s come to an end
But it sadly has not
And somehow we’ve got
To repeal and replace our old lens
